The 2007 Indo US Volleyball tournament held in Jacksonville, FL once again bore testimony to this fact that in the world of sports, CHAMPIONS rule!!!
In a style befitting the champions that they are, Jax Spikers trounced Spiker Boyz in a thrilling battle to take home the 2007 Championship Trophy.
The Jax Spikers unleashed their spiking fury on the opponents without mercy through Prashant which rattled the Spiker Boyz in the 2nd game of the "Finals" 3-game match.
Add to it
the "spiking from the clouds" by Captain Aby,
"intelligent spikes" by Sunil, and
"clean and powerful spikes" by Raju
and the JaxSpikers did more than justify the name that they stand for.
The relentless pounding that the spikers rained on the Boyz saw them through the nail-biting finals.
And all this was definitely made possible with the "unbelievably accurate" setting by Wilson and the excellent setting and digging by Regin. Not to be left far behind, Sajan contributed his best in the short time that he could be on court.
This orchestrated display of skills encompassing all aspects of the game by the JaxSpikers was a treat to watch. Inspite of the setbacks that they faced in the first games in both the Semis and Finals, they came back to win the next two games like the true chamions that they are.
The "JaxSpikers" blazed through the 2007 tournament winning all the matches ( 8 of them in total), losing only 3 games( not matches...). It was not an easy path for them, they had to face stiff resistance and defiance from 3 other teams namely Mac Patel's team in the early rounds, Vamshi's team in the semis and the SpikerBoyz in the finals. The SpikerBoyz in particular displayed that they could be potential contenders to the championship, but not this year, not at a time when the JaxSpikers played their best to undoubtedly and clearly distinguish the "MEN" from the "BOYZ".
So, to sum it all, this was a magnificient season for the JaxSpikers and with the Championship under their belt, Jacksonville and the world of Volleyball are surely going to witness many more entertaining performances from this great team.
Kudos to the CHAMPIONS!!!!!!
